Firefighters battle bitter cold, strong winds at Wyandanch house fire

The intense cold and whipping winds made it difficult Monday for fire crews battling a blaze at a home in Wyandanch.

The intense cold and whipping winds made it difficult Monday for fire crews battling a blaze at a home in Wyandanch.
Approximately 50 firefighters worked through much of the morning to get the fire under control at a home on South 29 Street. 
Firefighters say they arrived at the scene around 9:30 a.m. to find the home fully engulfed.
According to officials, the bitter cold and gusty winds made it harder for firefighters to battle the blaze.
The home was destroyed, but neighbors say there was no one in the home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters got the upper hand on the blaze just after 11 a.m.
Neighbors say they are happy firefighters were able to contain the fire and keep it from spreading to nearby homes.
No one was injured in the fire.
