Yonkers unveils $2.3M ice rink renovation

YONKERS -

Families are once again hitting the ice after a multimillion-dollar renovation at a skating rink in Yonkers.

The E.J. Murray Memorial Skating Center has gotten a facelift after nearly six decades.

Visitors can now expect to see a DJ booth and an area where up to 75 people can sit above the rink. "I think it was time to renovate, upgrade, make it compliant, while keeping the retro feel. I know that it was something that Mayor Spano and his administration wanted to do," says Yonkers Deputy Commissioner of Parks and Recreation Steve Sansone.

The $2.3 million upgrade will also soon offer Waffle Box, the rink's new food provider.
