Bridgeport resident on future flooding: ‘Everyone is living in fear’
Some residents in Bridgeport are living in fear of heavy rain while they await flood aid following a September storm.
Howard Gardner lives at Cartright Towers in Bridgeport. He says for the first time in 50 years the Rooster River overflowed its banks back in September, flooding cars and priceless personal belongings.  Gardner says he's worried it could happen again.
"Everyone is living in fear,” he says.
Gardner says insurance is not covering any of the damage.
"If there is no coverage, our concern is will there be state or federal assistance to close the gap for these people?" asks Gardner.
The city is reporting almost $3 million in losses and says it is still trying to push all that through to the state.
"We do qualify,” says Gardner. “This needs to be reviewed, individuals need help and as much as we can push it we're going to push it and make people whole if we can."
The city is conducting an investigation as to details of what actually caused the river to overflow.  People in the neighborhood will also conduct their own investigation.

Gardner says once the investigations are complete, he and the city will meet to compare notes.
