Health inspectors investigating possible norovirus cases at LIU Post

The Nassau County Health Department is investigating a possible norovirus outbreak in Brookville.
Students at LIU Post say they are worried about the possible outbreak of the highly-contagious virus on campus.
Officials at LIU say some students have come down with flu-like symptoms.
The disease spreads through food and drink and can cause flu-like symptoms like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It usually happens in close quarters like day care centers, nursing homes and colleges.
As a precaution, the school is sanitizing high-trafficked areas like residence halls, dining areas, restrooms and athletic facilities.
The Nassau County Health Department says it sent inspectors to the cafeteria after one of the food workers called out sick recently.
The university is encouraging students to get a flu shot and take common sense precautions to reduce their risk.
The Nassau County Health Department is asking any student who may be experiencing flu-like symptoms to call them at 516-227-9697/
