A random act of kindness goes a long way when you're stuck in a snowstorm.
Thursday's evening commute, coupled with fast-moving November snowfall, equaled major frustration on Rockland roadways.
Nearly 3,400 emergency calls poured in, and even first responders had trouble maneuvering. Authorities say 208 vehicles were left abandoned or disabled.
A daily 20-minute drive turned into distress for Jackie Dodrill. She was in Pomona, just over a mile from her Stony Point home. Like many others, she was left defenseless against Mother Nature, until a man in pickup truck pulled up next to her and asked if she'd like some help.
Dodrill says the good Samaritan helped wedge her car to freedom, leaving it in a parking lot and driving her home.
Dodrill offered him some coffee but says he declined, saying his truck was full of supplies and food and that he was going to head back out to help other people stranded by the storm.
