A power outage Monday left thousands of Union County residents in the dark.

Jersey Central Power & Light reported that  more than 3,200 customers were without power Monday, mostly in Summit and Springfield.

Many traffic lights went out in the area, so drives were urged to use caution. Extra police patrols were in the area to help direct traffic..

The utility company did not say the cause of the outage.
