Concerns have risen about the possibility of unsanitary medical instruments at Orange Regional Medical Center.
Patients took to social media Wednesday, voicing frustrations about being left in pain and forced to postpone their non-emergency procedures after the Wallkill facility is facing what they called a "surgical tray and instrument sanitation" problem since last week.
Others patients were diverted to nearby hospitals.
ORMC suspended its surgical tray processing last week. As a result, medical instruments for some surgeries are being sanitized at Catskill Regional Medical Center.
Hospital representatives will not say what is causing the issue, but stress there is no need for past patients to panic.
So far, it is not clear how many patients have been affected.
ORMC says it is working with the state Department of Health to determine the cause and to find a solution.
