Bridgeport Rescue Mission prepares for yearly Great Thanksgiving Project

A Bridgeport nonprofit is looking for donations to help families in Bridgeport put a meal on their tables during the holidays and stay warm this winter.
The Bridgeport Rescue Mission is preparing for its yearly Great Thanksgiving Project. It says it hopes to collect thousands of turkeys and winter coats.
The turkeys and coats will be distributed to those in need the week before Thanksgiving at Webster Bank Arena.
Pastor Terry Wilcox, the pantry's executive director, says the holidays can be a time of extra need for Bridgeport's most vulnerable families.
Wilcox says the mission gave out over 3,200 turkeys and over 12,000 coats last year to help area families during the holiday season.
The nonprofit was able to buy a new cooler last month due to donations given from people in Fairfield County.
