Borough President Eric Adams is vowing to crack down on crime in Downtown Brooklyn in response to a series of daytime shootings in the area.
Adams was joined by law enforcement officials and representatives from several colleges, businesses and schools Friday at Borough Hall Friday for a public safety meeting on the issue.
Adams cited people visiting downtown for court hearings or probation visits as the likely cause of recent crime in the area.
Participants at the meeting worked together on an improved monitoring and alert system, something that Adams says is key to keeping police ready for potential danger.
Adams assured attendees that utilizing surveillance cameras, social media and the court calendar will be paramount to ensuring preparedness and tackling crime before it happens.
“The goal is notification,” he said.
Adams says the conversation has only just begun, with more meetings expected to be aimed at making the borough safer.
