Police on Friday took a man into custody hours after they say he barricaded himself inside of a home in Lake Carmel, a hamlet of Kent in Putnam County.
Kent police, Westchester County police and the Putnam Sheriff's Department responded to the scene on Vernon Drive Friday afternoon.
A family member called police, reporting that a man refused to come out of a room and that they heard a loud bang.
Police said they were told the man may have had a weapon, but no weapon was found after he was taken into custody.
School bus service to the area was suspended. The Carmel Central School District alerted parents to pick up their students from schools.
