YONKERS -

A $15 million project to renovate the 1-mile stretch of Ashburton Avenue between Yonkers and Warburton avenues is complete.

Federal and state funds helped move the two-year project along.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano says the infrastructure improvements along the main east-west corridor to the city's waterfront will pave the way for thousands of new residents moving in, plus commuters and visitors.

The improvements include nine new traffic signals, improved turning and bus lanes and renovated pavements and sidewalks.
