A Bridgeport woman is fearful for her family's safety after she says bullets ripped through her home and narrowly missed her children earlier this month.
The mother says 15 bullets came into her home around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 4. Police say it began when a shootout broke out between rival gang members at the Green Homes Apartments.
The mother, who asked not to be identified to protect her family, says the bullets went through her walls and windows. She says the shots narrowly missed her young daughters, ages 6 and 11.
The mother says it was an eerie case of deja vu, because she grew up in Father Panic Village, where a round tore through her bedroom when she was just 5 years old herself. "I was almost killed. The bullet missed me directly, went right above my head," she says.
The family says they were told by housing officials that gunfire through their apartment is not grounds for an emergency transfer.
Police say bullets from the shooting also entered the home of another local resident, almost striking him as well.
