FBI agents swarmed a grocery store in New Rochelle Thursday morning in what authorities say was an investigation into gang and drug activity.
Agents could be seen taking cardboard boxes full of evidence from the Supermercado Mexico supermarket at 100 Union Ave. around 9:30 a.m..
Authorities say it’s related to an investigation involving federal prosecutors in Connecticut, and is related to drug and gang activity.
One neighbor tells News 12 that around 3 a.m., she heard what sounded like a bomb going off inside a former restaurant located next to the supermarket. The front door looks smashed in, and glass was scattered.
News 12 was told that the owners of the grocery store also own the restaurant, which has been closed for months.
The grocery store is closed, and there is no word on when it will reopen.
Neighbors tell News 12 they saw the FBI take two men into custody.
News 12's calls to the FBI have not been returned.
