Officials announce new law to prevent mass overdose

New Haven officials announced a new law Monday that could prevent another mass overdose.
In August, more than 100 people overdosed on K-2 synthetic marijuana.
New Haven police, along with Sen. Richard Blumenthal, discussed a new law designed to stop synthetic drugs from entering the U.S. from countries such as China and Mexico.
The new law requires the United States Postal Service to track and monitor every pharmaceutical shipment from overseas.
"Our officers and detectives are committed to bringing justice to those who poison members of our community," says New Haven Police Asst. Chief Rachael Cain.
The new law will also provide 10,000 new Narcan kits to police and fire departments across Connecticut.
