Police in Hamilton Township say a gas station clerk fought off an armed robber wearing a clown mask and wielding a hammer.

According to police, they responded to an alarm at the gas station Wednesday morning, finding the clerk who just fought off the robber.

Police say the robber demanded cash, but the clerk refused, resulting in a fight.

The clerk was not injured, and says he was able to see through the mask's eye holes, telling the officers he appeared to be a white man.

The suspect left the scene in a dark SUV.
