Train hits car carrier truck in West Nyack

WEST NYACK -

A driver was lucky to escape being injured after a CSX freight train hit his truck in West Nyack this morning.

Police say the train was traveling south when it clipped the back of a car carrier truck at the Pineview Avenue crossing around 8:30 a.m.

Officials say the truck was driving to a car storage area on the property when it was hit. The crossing is privately owned, so there are no barriers or flashing lights.

The driver was not hurt, but the back of the truck was damaged.

Crews also say there was only minor damage to the front of the train, and it should be able to still travel to its destination.

Pineview Avenue remains closed as the investigation continues.
