A former Rockland BOCES teacher's aide accused of bringing a loaded handgun to school faced a judge Friday morning.
Gillian Jeffords put in a plea of not guilty after facing a judge at the Rockland County Courthouse.
The 24-year-old is a former teacher's aide at Rockland BOCES in West Nyack.
Prosecutors say she brought a loaded pistol and four loaded magazines containing 28 rounds of ammunition into a classroom.
Police say the firearm was spotted by a co-worker in Jeffords' open pocketbook that was left in a closet accessible to students.
The Warwick woman is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
She's also charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Jeffords faces a maximum of four years in state prison. She's expected to be back in court Oct. 9.
