Mother: Kids attacked at Great Family Carnival

A brother and sister were attacked at the Great Family Carnival at St. Gabriels Church in New Rochelle, according to their mother.
The siblings, who are students at New Rochelle High School, say they were provoked by classmates who were also at the carnival. Although the fight did take place off school grounds, it is the first violent incident of the school year involving high school students.
Veronica, who did not want to give her last name, says her kids were defending each other and that this situation never should have happened in the first place.
"He ran over to try and break up the fight and for doing that, that's when he got jumped by these group of kids," Veronica says. "I did not see any security guards. I didn't see any type of security measure and it certainly raises a safety concern."
Veronica says her kids will not be going back to New Rochelle High School until the investigation is over.
News 12 reached out to the New Rochelle school district for comment. The New Rochelle Police Department says the incident is under investigation.
