Wilton police: Car stuck near railroad tracks is freed
A car went down an embankment and became stuck dangerously close to the railroad tracks in Wilton early this morning.
The incident happened shortly after 12 a.m. on Danbury Road.
Officials say the driver was trying to turn around in the parking lot of Diamond Deli when he backed too close to the curb and ended up at the bottom of the embankment.
Police and firefighters say they worked with the MTA to slow an oncoming train, then got the car up the bank and safely away from the tracks. They say it all took a little over an hour.
Officials say no one was injured, and Metro-North trains are back on schedule.
