Sen. Carlucci wins 38th District primary

Posted: Updated:

Democratic state Sen. David Carlucci defeated Chestnut Ridge resident Julie Goldberg in the 38th District primary Thursday.

It was the first primary challenge for the three-term Democrat.

Carlucci said he was running on his record, seeking to stay in office and pass legislation.

"We've got to pass the Child Victims Act, we've got to make sure we have stronger gun control legislation...the reproductive health act," said Carlucci.

Carlucci will face Republican Scott Vanderhoef on Election Day.
