A teenager who drowned in a Putnam County lake on Labor Day has been identified.

The Putnam County Sheriff says 14-year-old Oscar Gonzalez was on a paddleboard at Tonetta Lake Beach in Southeast when it overturned.

According to authorities, a man nearby heard the teen yelling for help around 9 p.m. and jumped into the water but couldn't find him.

Dive teams eventually found the boy about 45 minutes later. He was given CPR on the way to Putnam Hospital Center, but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
