Police arrest man in connection to Mount Vernon shooting

MOUNT VERNON -

Police say they have arrested a man in connection to a shooting in Mount Vernon.

Phillip Ballinger, 23, was charged with assault in the first degree after investigators say he shot a man in the neck twice back on Aug. 17.

News 12 was told that the victim is currently in stable condition at an area hospital.

Mount Vernon police say the incident is not related to Tuesday's shootings in the city.
