MOUNT VERNON -

At least one person was killed and two people were injured in separate shootings Tuesday in Mount Vernon.

Police say a man and a woman were shot around 6 p.m. in the area of Oak Street and Terrace Avenue, prompting a massive response from authorities. It's unclear if they were inside of a vehicle.

Yellow tape and investigators spanned Oak Street toward the Metro-North station, just feet from the Yonkers border.

At the nearby Fleetwood train station, a car police believed to be connected to the shooting was recovered.

The injured man and woman were expected to be OK.

Tuesday morning, police responded to a homicide at 240 Seventh Ave.

Police say they don't believe the shootings are related.

Mayor Richard Thomas vowed to take accountability for the violence.

No arrests have been made in either case.
