Cuomo says new bridge span will open soon, not much else

TARRYTOWN -

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that the Westchester-bound span of the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will open next month -- and that's about it.

He toured the site and made the announcement for the intended opening, but no official date has been given and details of the opening remain shrouded in mystery.

Unanswered questions include how the Westchester-bound span will function and how motorists might be impacted. The official response is that details are coming soon.

The governor's office is also staying tight-lipped about what the new tolls will cost.

Crews will continue dismantling the old Tappan Zee Bridge after the second span on the new one opens. There's no word on how long that will take.
