SLOATSBURG -

Rory Gay sprang into action when her neighbor's house on Aspen Road went up in flames. She was dog sitting the neighbor's pup, Spunky, while they were away on vacation. That's when she noticed heavy smoke and flames coming from the kitchen Friday afternoon.

Gay says she grabbed the dog, ran out and called 911.

Firefighters from several departments were able to put out the flames within minutes.
