NEW ROCHELLE -

Funeral services were held Monday for a New Rochelle police officer who died last week as a result of a 9/11-related illness.

Officer Kathleen O'Connor was a 20-year veteran of the New Rochelle Police Department.

Her funeral was held at the Holy Family Church on Clove Road in New Rochelle.

Colleagues say that even when she wasn't on duty, the New Rochelle native rushed to Ground Zero to help with search and rescue following the Sept. 11 attacks.

O'Connor also served on the Board of Education for over a decade.
