HIGHLAND FALLS -

A fire triggered several explosions at a sewage treatment plant in Orange County on Wednesday.

Officials say flames broke out at the facility on Rose Drive in Highland Falls. About 30 homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Officials say the fire was quickly contained to one section of the building and did not affect the plant's operation.

Everyone was allowed back into their homes after about an hour. No one was hurt.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire
