#N12BK: Driver assistance centers

New York lawmakers are pushing a bill for livery driver ‘assistance centers’ in the city.
The centers would provide a space for livery drivers who are seeking help for issues related to finances and mental health.
The push for the centers comes after at least six livery driver suicide-related deaths recently.
The drivers allegedly took their own lives due to financial troubles.
Many TLC drivers have rallied against the increase of ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft.
The TLC drivers say the services take business away from them.
Lawmakers are also voting on a bill Wednesday which would curb the amount of ride-hailing vehicles allowed on city streets.
