Business Briefs: Earnings, Aardvark Straws, T-MobilePosted: Updated:
A big day for media companies - old and new - on Wall Street. Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, will announce its earnings today after the bell. This as competition ramps up between Snap and Facebook - whose Instagram has mimicked many of Snapchat's top features. Also reporting today is Disney ahead of acquiring many entertainment assets from 21st Century Fox.
Aardvark Straws offers environmental alternatives to plastic straws - and the company can't keep up with demand. On Monday, USA Today reported that Aardvark was acquired by Hoffmaster Group, a major disposable dishware company. Companies like Starbucks, McDonald's and American Airlines have announced plans to eliminate plastic straws in the near future.
T-Mobile is launching a new plan offering only the basics. "Essentials" is a family plan offering talk, text and data for $30 a line per month, but you get what you pay for. According to Cheddar, streaming will be low-quality at times, especially when data demand is high. The plan also lacks other T-Mobile features like unlimited music streaming.
