Starbucks will eliminate plastic straws from its stores by 2020 in an effort to reduce ocean pollution. The company will instead begin offering paper or compostable alternatives, and will phase in new plastic lids with a raised lip to make it easier to sip beverages without a straw.
Timehop, the startup that gives users a daily look their into old social media posts, has disclosed a breach that impacted nearly all of its users. According to Cheddar, 21 million people had their names, email addresses and phone numbers disclosed. Financial data and social media content were not affected.
MoviePass let moviegoers down Friday night. The ticket subscription service experienced an outage at prime time, leaving users unable to access their tickets. The company recommended subscribers buy tickets at their theater, and wait for MoviePass to send a reimbursement. The outage comes at a tough time for MoivePass, as it bleeds cash to deliver on low-price movie tickets.
