Former Monroe Supervisor dies of apparent heart attackPosted: Updated:
Officials in Monroe say former Town Supervisor Harley Doles died Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Witnesses say Doles was outside of his home at the time of the episode.
CPR was performed on Doles, but he was unable to be resuscitated. He was 63.
Current Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone issued a statement saying, "Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and daughters at this difficult time. Although we didn't always agree with his governance of the town, he was still a father and husband, and our deepest sympathies go out to this family."
Dole spent four years in office serving Monroe before being replaced by Cardone.
His time in the position wasn't without controversy. Doles was accused of pushing plans to expand the town's Hassidic village of Kiryas Joel.
Doles is survived by his wife and three teenage daughters.
