PEEKSKILL -

A teenager had to be pulled from the water at a public pool in northern Westchester Saturday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency while in the deep end, witnesses told News 12.

The incident occurred at 2 p.m. at the Veteran Memorial Pool in Peekskill.

Witnesses say they saw lifeguard pull the 16-year-old male to safety, and they gave him CPR while others assisted.

The teen, who was said to be a Peekskill resident, was apparently conscious when paramedics rushed him into an ambulance.

Any information about the teen’s condition was not immediately available.

Police have remained tight-lipped about the incident, only saying the investigation is ongoing. They say they plan to release more information about the incident on Monday.

Officials have not yet said when the pool would reopen.
