Runners reach home stretch of 300-mile trek in Yonkers

Runners on a long-distance trek to find a cure for cancer passed through Yonkers Saturday.
The runners are on the last leg of the Eastern Trek for Cancer, a 300-mile run from Portland, Maine, to New York City.
Yonkers resident Madeline Carsky hosted the athletes at her home overnight before they finish off their run. She says her daughter participated in the run in the past and wanted to play a part in the fundraiser.
"I was just honored to be part of it," says Carsky. "In honor of my mother-in-law passed away from cancer and all of our loved ones who passed away from cancer."
The run, which raises funds for the Christine B Foundation, brought some strangers together.
"None of us knew each other coming into this, so over the course of a week we lived in really close quarters and we really got to know each other," says runner Marc Smith.
