Engel wins primary in landslide

Many parts of Westchester will continue to have a familiar face representing them in Congress.

Incumbent Eliot Engel won his Democratic primary in a landslide by beating his nearest competitor by almost a 60 percent margin.

Engel is likely to keep his seat come the November election since no other candidate is currently opposing him.

However there was one major political upset in New York as newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won the 14th Congressional District primary in her first ever campaign. She beat 10-term Rep. Joe Crowley, who was the fourth-ranked Democrat in the house. It was the first time in nearly a decade and a half that a democrat attempted to oust Crowley.
