Con Ed, Food Bank for NYC team up to reduce summer electricity bills

Con Edison has donated thousands of LED light bulbs to the Food Bank for New York City to help families in need.
Con Ed workers sorted and packed more than $100,000 worth of LED lights bulbs at a facility where the food bank also prepares meals for distribution.
The energy efficient bulbs will be distributed to more than 25,000 households across the city, organizers say.
Food Bank employees say the shipment will help working families reduce their electricity bills this summer.
"This is an opportunity for the Food Bank to manage households’ expenses as a means of stretching household budgets to put more food on the table," says Francisco Tezen, of the Food Bank.
This is the first time Con Ed and the Food Bank have teamed up.
