Fireworks fizzle in Stamford as the city says it's canceling the annual July 4th display at Cummings Beach due to budget cuts.
They include cutting parks and rec services by $205,000, which includes the fireworks.
Mayor David Martin blasted the Board of Representatives for slashing his budget request.
Other cuts include the cancellation of HarborFest in August, stopping the lining of ball fields on the weekends, and eliminating lifeguards at Cove's Quigley Beach.
