Armonk residents weigh in on Westchester County Airport privatization plan

Posted: Updated:
ARMONK -

A meeting in Armonk Monday night sought the answer to the question - should Westchester privatize the county airport?

It was the second of three public meetings held on the topic as Westchester County plans the future of its airport.

The last meeting was held last week in Rye Brook, where residents packed the hall to weigh in on the master plan created by former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.

That plan is serving as a starting point for current Westchester County Executive George Latimer, who says his administration will make changes.

While Astorino wanted the county to sign a 40-year lease with a private company to take over airport operations, Latimer says he isn't committed to the idea and wants to hear what residents think.

Latimer says his administration will meet with the county's Board of Legislators in mid-October to make a final decision.

The next and final meeting is set for June 25 at the West Harrison Senior Center.
