MOUNT VERNON -

A deadly batch of crack cocaine killed a 28-year-old woman and left two other people hospitalized Friday, police say.

Police say the victims used a drug laced with a dangerous opioid at 156 Third St. last night. Neighbors say drug abuse is rampant within the apartment building at that address.

Authorities have not released the identity of the woman who died, but neighbors say she was a mother who leaves behind two young children.

Two other women, a mother and daughter, were revived with Narcan after overdosing on the same drug Thursday night, police say. The same duo overdosed again Friday, just a few hours later.

Police Commissioner Shawn Harris says investigators are working to track down the dealer who sold the drugs.

They have already detained multiple people for questioning, Harris says.
