Westchester closer to raising smoking age

Posted: Updated:
WHITE PLAINS -

Westchester County is now just one step away from raising the age to buy tobacco products.

The County Board voted to approve the measure last night to raise the age from 18 to 21 years old.

The bill now heads to Westchester County Executive George Latimer's desk where he is expected to sign it into law.

Orange and Rockland counties already require you to be at least 21 to buy tobacco and e-cigarette products.
