Ossining schools to start ‘six-day schedule’ next yearPosted: Updated:
Ossining's elementary schools will start a six-day schedule next year -- but that doesn't mean kids have to show up on Saturdays.
It's a scheduling trick to restore lost days in music, art, physical education and STEM classes due to the number of Mondays students have off throughout the year.
"When you look at the school calendar, a lot of Mondays we have off," says Superintendent Ray Sanchez. "You have less of that over the course of a year."
It begins in September in all four of the district's elementary schools.
