A ceremony to honor police officers who died in the line of duty was held in Ocean Grove Tuesday.
It was the 34th year of the ceremony — the oldest running memorial service of its kind in the United States.
Law enforcement officers from all over the state gathered inside Ocean Grove’s Great Auditorium to remember those who lost their lives while serving the people of New Jersey.
“It truly is a family, and like I always say, this is not only a profession, but it is a lifestyle,” says Howell Police Chief Andrew Kudrick. “And it is your second family.”
Among those honored was Newark Patrolman Maxwell Badgley, who was killed while on duty in 1854.
