Mamaroneck police-involved shooting case heads to grand jury

MAMARONECK -

The case of a Mamaroneck mother charged with stabbing two village police officers is heading to a grand jury.

Cynthia Arce, 28, is still recovering from being shot by police after allegedly attacking them when they responded to a call at her home last month. Newly released recordings from that day indicate police had been to the house before.

When police arrived to the home on Chesnut Avenue, they found Arce's 2-year-old daughter unresponsive. The girl later died. The circumstances surrounding her death are still under investigation.

The child, Gabriella Maria Boyd, was at the center of an ongoing legal battle between Arce and the toddler's father. Arce faces charges of two counts of attempted aggravated murder of a police officer.

The Westchester County Medical Examiner's office told News 12 that the 2-year-old’s autopsy could take weeks. Those findings could have a significant impact on the case.
