Manhunt puts Hendrick Hudson schools on 3-hour lockout
Posted: Updated:Three schools in the Hendrick Hudson School District were on lockout for three hours Thursday as police searched for a man near one of its elementary schools.
Hendrick Hudson High School, Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School and Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School went into lockout around 9 a.m.
School district offices and The Firehouse, where AP exams are taking place, were also on lockout.
Officials say the lockout meant that no students, staff or visitors were allowed to enter the buildings, but regular school-day activities continue inside.
Police say they were searching for a man who violated his probation and was wanted for a minor crime in Peekskill.
The lockout was lifted shortly after 12 p.m
Police say they suspended the search, but do not consider the suspect a threat to the community.
