Fugitive teen in New Rochelle stabbing arrested in Alabama

NEW ROCHELLE -

A New Rochelle teen fugitive on the run for four months has been arrested in Alabama.

The teen is suspected of involvement with a violent incident at New Rochelle High School.

On Jan. 18, police say a New Rochelle High School student stabbed his classmate inside the school.

That student then left the crime scene, left New York and went to Alabama.

Police spent four months searching for the 15-year-old suspect who is accused of stabbing a 16-year-old classmate.

FBI agents arrested him yesterday in Gadsden, Alabama.  Sources say he was arrested at his grandfather's home.

It's still unclear how the teen got there.

He faces charges of attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Westchester County Court as a juvenile.

The stabbing was one of three violent incidents involving students at the high school in just one week.  Since then, the school has followed tighter security protocol, including more police presence.
