Playland Park to open for 90th seasonPosted: Updated:
Playland Park in Rye will be welcoming visitors for its 90th year on Saturday morning.
However, the opening comes amid some looming legal issues after Westchester County Executive George Latimer nixed a deal to have the park privatized by Standard Amusements.

That decision has been met with push back, with some officials calling for the county to cut back its investment into Playland and have the private operator put up the money.
“We've bonded already $42 million in improvements. Most of those capital projects will happen after this season is over,” said Latimer.
Inside the park, the historic carousel that nearly burned down last summer is still out of commission. County officials say it will not be open at least for another year.
