Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams joined people worldwide in participating in Bike To Work Day Monday.

This was Adams' fourth annual Bike to Work Day, kicking off Earth Week as he drew attention to the positive environmental impact of biking.

But his ride to work wasn't just about the environment, it also focused on dangerous traffic corridors.

Adams passed through a stretch of Flatbush Avenue between Grand Army Plaza and Empire Boulevard where advocates are calling for a bike lane.

He also went through a Park Slope intersection where two children were struck and killed by a car last month.

"I don't think any person can walk past Ninth Street and Fifth Avenue and not remember the two young children that lost their lives at that avenue," says Adams.

Brooklyn Councilman Brad Lander joined the call for safer streets, saying that Ninth Street would have a protected bike lane by next year's ride.

The Department of Transportation did not immediately respond to News 12's request for comment.
