Hundreds of parishioners gathered at St. Ann's Church in Ossining to mark the Stations of the Cross Friday.

The Catholic tradition on Good Friday recounts the last day of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion. 

To mark the event, people re-enacted a pilgrimage to the 14 symbolic stations through the streets of Ossining.

The Rev. Ed Byrne said many members of his congregation can relate to Jesus's suffering. At least three-quarters of the members are immigrants from Latin America, according to church officials.

"They know what struggling and suffering is, they identify with this," he said. "They love this devotion."

St. Ann's has held the Stations of the Cross procession for 22 consecutive years. 

Easter, the Catholic celebration of Jesus's resurrection, is Sunday.
