SUNY chancellor visits Rockland, Westchester schoolsPosted: Updated:
New SUNY Chancellor Dr. Kristina Johnson made her first visits to Rockland Community College and Westchester Community College Tuesday afternoon.
It's part of a 64-campus tour that Dr. Johnson has been on since she was appointed to lead SUNY last year.
Before taking over as chancellor of the largest higher education system in the country, Dr. Johnson was an engineer who most recently served as undersecretary of energy at the U.S. Department of Energy.
She then lead Enduring Hydro, a successful hydroelectric company.
According to SUNY resources, Dr. Johnson has also worked in higher education at John Hopkins and Duke universities.
A SUNY spokesperson says her goal is to get to know the campuses and get feedback from students and faculty on ways they can improve.
The chancellor has toured about half of SUNY's 64 campuses since taking office in September.
