Rallies held across NJ in solidarity with March For Our Lives
Students and supporters across New Jersey hit the streets to call for an end to gun violence in solidarity with the massive March For Our Lives event in Washington, D.C.
Thousands of students and parents took part in rallies and marches in several communities in New Jersey to advocate for stricter gun control laws, to ultimately end gun violence once and for all.  Marches were held in Newark, Montclair, Hackensack and elsewhere in the Garden State to call on lawmakers to act -- more than 20 events were held in New Jersey in all.
In Maplewood, people were out early to board a train to take part in another massive event in Manhattan.
“Not only are we going to strengthen our laws, we’ve started a coalition of other like-minded states called ‘States for Gun Safety,’” said Gov. Phil Murphy. “We have seven states already lined up.”
Gov. Murphy said the people have his word that he will sign gun laws that were vetoed by former Gov. Chris Christie.
The events come on the heels of multiple mass shootings, including the Valentine's Day school shooting in Parkland, Florida, where 17 students and staff members were killed by a former student.
