LARCHMONT -

Several hundred people, including prominent politicians like Gov. Andrew Cuomo, were in Larchmont Sunday for a rally to support Shelley Mayer, the state assemblywoman running in a special election for state senator.

The packed rally was held at the VFW hall.

Mayer is running for the Westchester-based state Senate seat left vacant by current Westchester County Executive George Latimer.

If she wins the special election race, the state Senate will have a Democratic majority.

Mayer is running against Republican Julie Killian.

Election Day is April 24.
